Redução De Alíquota Do AFRMM Entra Em Vigor

AFRMM Rate Reduction comes into force

As there is never enough good news, it is worth celebrating the fact that Law No. 14,301/2022 was published in the Official Gazette of the Union last Friday, 03/25/2022. With the new determination, there will be a reduction in the AFRMM fee, as described below:

8% (eight percent) in long-haul navigation;

8% (eight percent) in coastal shipping;

40% (forty percent) in river and lake navigation, when transporting liquid bulk in the North and Northeast Regions; It is

8% (eight percent) in river and lake navigation, when transporting solid bulk and other cargo in the North and Northeast Regions.

The reduction in AFRMM rates from 25% to 8% is a welcome relief for foreign trade, which has been suffering from constant increases such as, for example, the cost of international freight.

The new rates are already in force, but it is important to be aware. This reduction is only valid for cases in which the Mercante CE occurred after the publication of the new legislation.

However, the system performs the calculation based on the rate in force on the date of payment. This means that, if the CE was issued before the new law came into effect, it is necessary to collect the difference, as the charge in this case will not benefit from the reduction.
